Storyline

After a series of 'accidents' he rightly assumes to constitute attempts at his life, merciless TV talent show 'American Duos' key judge Nigel St. Nigel refuses to lets security compromise the production, which happens to be in Santa Barbara this week, so he hires Shawn as psychic watchdog, going undercover as contestant with Gus. Near-fatal incidents continue, so obnoxious prima donna Nigel gets to stay at highly unamused Henry's home. Shawn and the police meanwhile check out disgruntled failed contestants, the producer Lester Beacon and both fellow judges. Written by KGF Vissers

Goofs

The girls in the hall and the hip hop dancers on stage while Shawn and Gus were on the catwalk, both shared the same contestant number 43101. This is not a goof, however: the two are a duo, and in the show, all contestants have the same number as their partner. Shawn and Gus have the same number as well. See more »

Possibly the funniest episode to anything I've seen!
25 February 2009 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

Psych is great for a laugh, and "American Duos" is my all time favourite episode. Full of hilarious lines, like "I feel as though I have been incarcerated in a blueberry" or something like that. James Roday and Dule Hill were great, in this episode, especially during the audition scene, where I was howling with uncontrollable laughter. I haven't ever heard such bad singing, so bad it was great. Gina Gerschon and Christian De la Fuente were also solid as Emilina and Zapato. But topping them all, in a priceless performance as Nigel St. Nigel, was the always wonderful Tim Curry. He had the funniest lines of the whole episode, and his delivery of them was flawless. I wish I could list some of his best lines, but I can't remember them completely, I assure you that's from laughing so much, but I loved the scene with the robe. Anyway, watch this, because you're likely to die laughing. 10/10. Bethany Cox
