18 December 2008 7:55 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Actress Maggie Q (Live Free or Die Hard, Mission Impossible III) has been cast in the upcoming English language adaptation of a Japanese video game called King of Fighters. She will join cast members Sean Faris (Never Back Down), Ray Park (who’s playing Snake Eyes in the upcoming G.I. The film will be directed by Gordon Chan (director of such films as 2000 Ad and Beast Cops) and written by first time writer Rita Augustine.

No word as of yet which character Maggie will be playing, suggestions have been made that she may play the character of May Lee but nothing has been confirmed. I’m sure it will be one of the leads though, or at the very least an important character.

'Twilight' important for Summit

19 November 2008 4:00 AM, PST | The Hollywood Reporter - Movie News | See recent The Hollywood Reporter - Movie News news »

Much of the conversation about potential Summit Entertainment breakout "Twilight" has centered on the future of the franchise.

But it also is the future of Summit that depends in some ways on "Twilight."

Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger's company had a start in 2008 that, while in line with that of many first-year companies, didn't always outperform at the boxoffice. Midrange productions like "Never Back Down" ($25 million domestic) and acquisitions like "Penelope" ($10 million domestic) did decently, while "Sex Drive," the R-rated comedy with a sizable marketing budget, significantly underperformed, taking in $8 million in U.S. ticket sales.

The overall Summit model, which does have advantages such as a lucrative international sales business, also has limits; it lacks, for example, a pay-tv deal to supplement theatrical revenue.

That ups the boxoffice pressure on "Twilight," a production that's believed to have cost in the $40 million-$50 million range (Summit officially pegs it at »

Five Star Day Gets A Twilighter

17 November 2008 2:39 PM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Five Star Day is getting two hot young actors. According to Hr, Cam Gigandet (Twilight) and Jena Malone (The Ruins, Donnie Darko) will team up in this indie drama as a couple. Gigandet's character is a man who loses everything and must take a journey of self-discovery. By his side throughout this quest is a girlfriend (Malone) and his wise best friend who'll be played by Will Yun Lee (Bionic Woman). Sounds very typical in terms of a youth drama, so it'll be exciting to get a better sense of the film's potential as more of the plot is revealed. Malone's a known quantity, but it's not until the release of Twilight on the 21st, that we'll get to see what Gigandet is capable of, beyond his role in Never Back Down. All three stars have a lot on their schedule. Gigandet, of course, has Twilight followed by the horror »
