Interesting yet sad...

I enjoyed this episode of "The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau". It was well made and very interesting. But I must warn you, it is a bit depressing to watch--but nature sometimes IS depressing.

The show is focused completely on the mating of the Sockeye (Red) Salmon in Alaskan waters. However, little of the show is done in open water--which probably made the crew of the Calypso happy, as the water is VERY cold! Instead, they did some diving in mountain lakes and streams...which is also quite cold. But, the majority of the show seemed to take place out of the water--showing the salmon on their movement upstream. The process is very hazardous and many die on the way. Ultimately, however, after spawning ALL the Sockeye attempting the spawn die...and the footage is fascinating but creepy.

Very well made and very interesting. Well worth seeing even if it's not exactly 'undersea'.
