I think that this is THE best career move EVER that Italian actor, Flavio Insinna has made. After being the supporting character, Captain Flavio Anchesi, for 5 seasons on RAI TV's Don Matteo, Flavio finally decided to abandon the cast, and move forward to a TV show, where he would be the main character. In Ho Sposato Uno Sbirro, Flavio excellently plays police commissioner Diego Santamaria, who always manages to solve the crime towards the end of each show. Ho Sposato Uno Sbirro, translated into English, means I have married a dominion, meaning his career. Obviously, leading his homicide detective team isn't that easy. His homicide team consists of Inspector Stella Morini, very well-played by German-born actress Christiane Filangieri. (By the way, she was the runner-up in Miss Italia 1997, and speaks 4 languages.) Diego sees Stella in a coffee shop, and all of a sudden, he's fallen head over heels for her. Six months later, they marry. Alongside Inspector Morini are detectives Ardea, played by Marco Bocci, and Lorjano, played by Antonio Catania. Now, the family problems aren't any better either. You have Diego's mama, Herminia, very will-played by veteran actress Giovanna Ralli. (Flavio guest starred in Ralli's show, Angelo Il Custode several years earlier.)Then, you have Stella's snobbish parents, Clarissa, played by French actress Barbara Bouchet, and the attorney, Guido, played by Marco Bonnetti. The cast really shines in this series, and I hope that RAI brings back Ho Sposato Uno Sbirro for another season.
