Trivia:
Matthew "Fish the Magish" Fishman's Second Life avatar, Tuna Oddfellow, appears in an interstitial announcement congratulating him for winning NBC's promotional "Avatar's Got Talent" contest in Second Life, a virtual world with about 7 million registered "residents." "Fish" won a million linden dollars, perhaps $3500 cash equivalent, for his performance of magic in SL. The interstitial voice over begins: "You think America's got talent?" and precedes to show Tuna Oddfellow's magic act, congratulating him for his win. The contest selected Tuna out of the approximately seven million residents of Second Life in open auditions. Three in-world celebrities judged the auditions in NBC Studio 3, part of NBC's virtual holdings in Second Life. Then an audience engaged in a popular vote among the finalists, and Tuna was judged "most talented avatar" in SL. It was a virtual mirror of the entire AGT season in miniature. After taking probably a full hour of video of Tuna, NBC only aired ten seconds for the interstitial. moreFAQ
