19 July 2012 10:13 AM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

Jimmy Kimmel and Scandal's Kerry Washington stepped up to the podium this morning to announce the nominees for the 64th Primetime Emmys (Nick Offerman was scheduled to announce with Washington, but had to cancel due to travel issues, and luckily, Kimmel was on hand, still in his pajamas). I was pleasantly surprised to see a few names make it off our Emmy wishlist, like American Horror Story, Max Greenfield, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. As for new series, Lena Dunham's Girls racked up noms for comedy series, directing, writing, and acting, and Downton Abbey is all over the drama categories. Now that the nominees are out, the official speculation can begin! The 64th Emmy »

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen reels in older viewers at the UK box office

The Paul Torday adaptation wins over Middle England audiences, while Kevin Macdonald's Marley proves a documentary hit

The winner

It was hardly a hit with the upscale critics and is saddled with a title that's not exactly multiplex-friendly, but Salmon Fishing in the Yemen nevertheless is the top new release at the UK box-office, opening with a highly creditable £1.17m. In a week where a record 17 new releases competed for the attention of cinemagoers, this adaptation of the Paul Torday novel proves once again the power of the older, middle-class, Middle England audience that has already proved so potent this year with the success of The Iron Lady and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
