Storyline

With both Lila and Debra staying at his apartment Morgan finds himself living with, in his own words, a cobra and a mongoose. Rita tells Dexter that he's no longer welcome to just drop in, even if it's just to see the kids. Having decided that the Bay Harbor Butcher has experience in law enforcement, Special Agent Lundy informs the local officers that all of their old cases will be re-examined. Dexter is on the defensive and Lundy almost catches him out over one of his cases. As Dexter helps Lila clean up her loft after the fire, he realizes that something is wrong with her story as to how the fire started. He also comes to realize how dangerous her obsessive behavior can be. Dexter has a close call when his mother's killer decides to pay him a visit so Dexter decides to do what he should have done the first time they met. Sgt. Doakes, suspended for assaulting Dexter, breaks into his apartment looking for evidence. Written by garykmcd

Quotes

Dexter Morgan: Hi, you wanted to...
Special Agent Frank Lundy: Morgan, come in. Can I offer you some tea?
Dexter Morgan: Uh, no, thank you. I'm...
Dexter Morgan: [thinking] And he pours it anyway. He's trying to throw me off balance, show that I don't have the power to say no to him.
Special Agent Frank Lundy: How about some sesame crackers to go with that?
Dexter Morgan: [thinking] So I'll say yes to everything.
Dexter Morgan: I'd love some.
Special Agent Frank Lundy: Oh. Sorry. Guess I ate them all.
Dexter Morgan: [thinking] Asshole.

Dexter feels suffocated with the arguments of Debra and Lila in his apartment. Rita forbids Dexter to visit her children and her again. Dexter visits Lila that has trouble with the insurance company and finds multiple evidences of how the fire started in her loft. Agent Lundy believes that the Bay Harbor Butcher is in law enforcement and brings special agents to investigate the cases of the Miami Metro. Then he interviews Dexter about a case lost due to the lousy blood forensic report. Lila meets Dexter in the bowling and Dexter is assaulted by Santos Jimenez that tries to kill him. Kundy invites Debra to have dinner with him in his apartment. Doakes breaks in Dexter's apartment searching for evidence to incriminate him. Dexter sharpens his sense with his killing instinct and seeks out Santos; when he meets the killer of his mother, he discovers how the criminal has located him.

"Morning Comes" is one of the best episodes of this Second Season. This show is based on discoveries: Lundy, Debra and Angel find that the Bay Harbor Butcher definitely works in the police department; Dexter discover the hidden personality of Lila; and Doakes snoops Dexter's apartment and finds the blood samples hidden in the air conditioning apparatus. I am looking forward to see the sequel of this engaging episode. My vote is nine.
