Storyline

The police think they have a break in the case when the Bay Harbor Butcher sends a 32 page manifesto to a local newspaper. Only thing is Dexter had a very specific purpose in doing what he did, as the police now go off into every direction imaginable. With Sgt. Doakes having set his sights on him yet again, Dexter realizes that he's going to have to play hardball to protect himself and so takes him head on. Rita comes to the end of her tether with her domineering mother. Lila sells a sculpture for a tidy sum and she and Dexter have a romantic dinner out. When Dexter tells her that he is going to a school event for Rita's son, she takes drastic action to get his attention. Written by garykmcd

Excellent Episode!
18 June 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This is the seventh episode of the second season of Dexter and it's an excellent, character-driven, action-packed episode. Many things happen in this episode, so you better not blink. I loved this episode in part because the intensity between Sgt. Doakes and Dexter has gotten even stronger with the happenings in this episode.

In this episode, "That Night, A Forest Grew," Dexter sends a 32-page manifesto in order to confuse the task force. Meanwhile, Dexter realizes he must fight back against Doakes if he is to protect his secrets. While on a romantic dinner with Lila, she gets jealous when she finds out he will be seeing Rita at Cody's school play. Finally, Debra begins a relationship with Secret Agent Lundy.

Overall, this is a fantastic episode and it's even more intense. This show has a knack of wanting you to see more and I do want to see more. I rate this episode 10/10.
