Storyline

The police think they have a break in the case when the Bay Harbor Butcher sends a 32 page manifesto to a local newspaper. Only thing is Dexter had a very specific purpose in doing what he did, as the police now go off into every direction imaginable. With Sgt. Doakes having set his sights on him yet again, Dexter realizes that he's going to have to play hardball to protect himself and so takes him head on. Rita comes to the end of her tether with her domineering mother. Lila sells a sculpture for a tidy sum and she and Dexter have a romantic dinner out. When Dexter tells her that he is going to a school event for Rita's son, she takes drastic action to get his attention. Written by garykmcd

Goofs

In the scene where Debra and Gabriel are in bed and Debra says she wants to break up with him it is supposed to look like Debra has been listening to her iPod for a while, but when the scene starts the display on her iPod is illuminated and goes dark after a second or two. This means she just used the controls on her iPod. See more »

Quotes

Lt. Maria Laguerta: You and Dexter resolve your issues?
Sergeant Doakes: As far as I'm concerned. Why? The bitch come crying to you again?
Lt. Maria Laguerta: No. There's blood work to be done here, and if you can't control yourself, I need to call in another detective.
Sergeant Doakes: I won't say anything to hurt the little girl's feelings.
Lt. Maria Laguerta: God damn it, James, I'm not joking.
Sergeant Doakes: Do I look like I'm laughing?
Lt. Maria Laguerta: No. You don't. I wish you would. You used to.
Sergeant Doakes: Bullshit. I never laughed.

Solving a Problem and Divided by Two Women
16 August 2010 | by (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) – See all my reviews

Dexter sends a messy manifesto to the Miami Herald to mislead the investigations of Lundy's team. With Sergeant Doakes on his tail, Dexter plots a Machiavellian scheme to get rid of the hassle. Gail punishes Cody for calling Dexter and Rita takes an attitude sending her back home. Debra dumps Gabriel and shows affection for Agent Lundy. Meanwhile Dexter sentimental life is divided between Lila that supports him in his addiction and Rita and her kids that give sense of family to him. Out of the blue, Lila decides to call the attention to her.

In this episode, Dexter frames the dangerous Doakes and this attitude will probably bring consequences in the next episodes. However the reckless attitude of Lila seems to indicate that the woman will be trouble for him. My vote is eight.
