Storyline

Dexter sees an advantage when the police determine that there is a copycat killer on the loose. The bad news is that unless they can locate and stop him, the FBI will take over the Bay Harbor Butcher case completely. He also learns that he was videotaped cleaning his boat at the marina. Since learning that his mother was actually a police informant working for his stepfather, Dexter has been questioning his step-dad's motivation in taking him in. Rita's scheming mother suggests that Dexter's NA sponsor, Lila come to dinner. It all goes well but when Rita later learns that Lila accompanied Dexter on his recent road trip, she announces she never wants to see him again. Dexter and Lila find a new way to relieve Dexter's compulsive urges. Written by garykmcd

Quotes

[Dexter is talking to a copycat killer who was strapped to a table after he told Dexter that he actually had killed people before]
Ken Olson: I'm not the bay harbor butcher. I'm certainly not anybody's role model.
Ken Olson: What are you talking about then? Who are you?
Dexter Morgan: I'll let you know when I figure that out. Though, I got to tell you, I am well on my way because, as sure as I'm standing here, I don't need to kill you.
Ken Olson: That's a relief.
Dexter Morgan: I mean that need that comes from within that always drives me to this table - I ...

Another Great Dexter Episode!
17 June 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This is the sixth episode of the second season of Dexter and it's another thing of beauty. The tension increases and so does the excitement. Each storyline is worth watching and there are several surprises perhaps things I should have seen coming. Once again, the acting is top-notch and I like the exotic chemistry between Michael C. Hall and Jaime Murray.

In this episode, "Dex, Lies, and Videotape," there is a Bay Butcher wannabe killer on the loose and unless he is caught, the FBI will take total control of the case. Dexter learns that he was filmed cleaning his boat so he tries to delete the evidence. Meanwhile, Gail suggests that Rita invite Lila over to dinner which in return results in the end of Rita's and Dexter's relationship.

Overall, this is a very engaging and enthralling episode and it's very interesting how Dexter tries to cover his footsteps as the Bay Butcher investigation gets more in-depth. I'm very interested to see what happens next. I rate this episode 9/10.
