No Blockbuster Finish This Season, 14 December 2007
8/10
Author: ccthemovieman-1 from Lockport, NY, United States

After last season's spectacular finale, leading to Horatio headed down to Rio to begin tracking down the murderer of his newlywed, I was expecting another blockbuster finish. However, it was just a routine show; nothing out of the ordinary.

This opening scene was a surprise as we see two women being offered a ride outside a nightclub by some mysterious biker. One girl takes the stranger up on the offer while the more reasonable - and sane - says, "no thanks." The next day, however, the smart girl is discovered dead and there is no hint of a murder weapon at the crime scene. It turns out she wasn't so smart, taking another offer for a ride and paying for it dearly. It is a very bloody scene. It appears the killer took his tools of the trade to the crime and left with them and there are two were two knives used on this woman. One of them was post-mortem, with Horatio hoping that was some sort of signature which could help his trace this sicko.

Some of the story revolves around just that: the signature indicating the killer had an extra "Y" chromosome which used to indicate - falsely, as it was proved in later years - that someone was "born to kill," hence the title of this episode (which is one of the more grisly ones I've seen.)

Meanwhile, it looks like Ryan Wolfe is going to slowly work his way back into reinstatement into CSI by doing some long, tedious work. Natalia volunteers to help him. None of that is said, but implied. Calleigh shows affection to her ex-husband, so that relationship may be re-kindled. It's just all part of the personal stories they like to show from time to time on this program.
