Remember Arkanoid (1986) the highly addictive brick breaking game where you control a paddle bouncing a ball at the wall of bricks above to destroy it? That's really nostalgic to me, one of those games I grew up with so I approach any imitators tentatively.
Energy Invasion is one of several "Energy" titles by developer Sometimes You. They essentially push out wall to wall small independent titles which generally range from very poor to poor. Sorry Spiral Splatter (2017) but you were too annoying to be fun!
The game is a twist on Arkanoid, with different power ups and flashy visuals. That's basically it, taking a classic game and making totally unnecessary tweaks to bring it "Up to date".
Sadly it was the simplicity of Arkanoid that was so appealing, not to mention addictive. All these bells and whistles are overkill, the graphical style is a tad annoying and the game comes across as another cashgrab.
Want a brick breaker? Play the original Arkanoid (1986), want a decent updated version then play Briks (2017).
