Yoga Hosers Review

1 September 2016 9:03 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Thanks to my surprisingly contrarian adoration of Kevin Smith (amongst critics, at least), I sat down for Yoga Hosers filled with curious excitement. One Kevin Smith movie packs more personality than some filmmakers produce over an entire career, and his daddy-daughter feature teased bizarre delicacies beyond Earthly words.

Alas, my take on Smith’s Canadian zero-to-hero nightmare aligns with most other negative views, but it’s still an admirably passionate project that I salute the renegade director for tackling. Smith takes tremendous creative risks every time he pens a script, and sometimes they become Clerks, or Tusk, or Zack And Miri Make A Porno, while other times they’re Yoga Hosers. It’s a numbers game, really.

So – regrettably – let’s get to the not fun part.

Yoga Hosers is a hollow genre mashup that can be best described as Buzzfeed meets Jem And The Holograms meets a neat-enough podcast discussion. »

Back in April, it was revealed that Kevin Smith's new movie Yoga Hosers was picked up by Invincible Pictures, with the filmmaker taking his movie on tour before its theatrical release on July 29. Shortly thereafter, the first trailer and poster were released, with the tour kicking off on June 1 in New Orleans. The tour continues today with a stop at the Houston Improv in Houston, Texas, but for those who can't make it to this screening, the second trailer has debuted with plenty of new footage, including a new look at Johnny Depp's Guy Lapointe.

Back in April, Invincible Pictures announced it had picked up distribution rights for Kevin Smith's second installment of his True North Trilogy, Yoga Hosers, which is set to hit theaters July 29. Before the theatrical release, it was revealed that the director will hit the road with a summer tour, bringing this movie all across the country for early screenings, which kicks off today in New Orleans. The first trailer was released last month, but now that the tour is starting tonight, we have the first poster and a new photo, featuring stars Harley Quinn Smith and Lily-Rose Depp, the daughters of Kevin Smith and their co-star Johnny Depp.

Kevin Smith Wins PG-13 for Yoga Hosers Without an Appeal

28 April 2016 10:28 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

In a world where R-rated movies are a hot topic of discussion, the often vulgar and very R-rated director Kevin Smith has actually been fighting to get a PG-13 rating for his latest horror movie. It was a short fight, though. And no one got hurt. Set to appeal the R rating given to Yoga Hosers, Kevin Smith was awarded a PG-13 without having to appear in front of the MPAA to make his case. The filmmaker behind such gloriously R-Rated movies as Clerks and Mallrats had this to say on Instagram about winning the rating he wanted.

"Holy shit! The #MPAA just canceled my @yogahosers appeals screening that was set for tomorrow. They said they re-watched the movie and now agree that it is, indeed, a PG-13! I don't have to cut anything out to secure the PG-13 rating either! Next up, we'll tour the kids movie in June »

Kevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers gets R-rating over cartoon testicles

20 April 2016 1:34 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It looks like Kevin Smith has run foul of the Motion Picture Association of America once again, with the filmmaker taking to Instagram to announce that his latest film Yoga-Hosers has been slapped with an R-rating. However, this time it’s not down to foul language or gratuitous nudity, but rather a cartoon drawing of a pair of testicles…

The #MPAA gave my kids movie @YogaHosers an R rating for a cartoony drawing of testicles on a book cover. So now, for the 4th time in my 22 year career, we will hold an appeals screening with the Motion Picture Association of America's ratings board and try to get the R overturned for a less severe (and far more appropriate) PG-13. Kevin Smith's 'Yoga Hosers' Gets Rated R for One Weird Reason

19 April 2016 1:29 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

We haven't heard much about director Kevin Smith's new movie Yoga Hosers lately, since production wrapped back in June. The director debuted the first trailer at Comic Con, but it still hasn't been officially released yet, and the movie doesn't have a release date in place at this time. Yesterday, the director took to his Instagram page to provide an interesting update about the second installment of his True North Trilogy, which has been slapped with an R rating by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). The reason behind the rating, however, will certainly surprise you, as you can see in his lengthy statement below, which also reveals he's planning a summer release for the movie.

Kevin Smith to Appeal R Rating for ‘Yoga Hosers’

19 April 2016 1:03 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Kevin Smith announced that he will appeal the Motion Picture Association of America’s R rating of his comedy-horror “Yoga Hosers.”

“The #MPAA gave my kids movie @YogaHosers an R rating for a cartoony drawing of testicles on a book cover. So now, for the 4th time in my 22 year career, we will hold an appeals screening with the Motion Picture Association of America’s ratings board and try to get the R overturned for a less severe (and far more appropriate) PG-13,” Smith announced Monday in an Instagram post.

He continued, “The core audience for the flick is tween girls (it’s Clueless meets Gremlins!), so I refrained from salty language to make a totally kid-friendly movie. And while it’s a ‘horror’ movie, there’s no blood on display: when our Bratzi bad guys get killed, concentrated sauerkraut explodes everywhere – not guts or entrails.”

Kevin Smith To Direct An Upcoming Episode Of The Flash

11 January 2016 7:10 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

As if season two of The Flash wasn’t already exciting enough, it was revealed at yesterday’s Television Critics Association press tour that Kevin Smith is set t direct an upcoming episode of the hit CW series.

The filmmaker responsible for everything from Clerks to Zack and Miri Make A Porno is no stranger to the small screen after helming the Reaper pilot a few years back (that also aired on The CW), and seeing as Smith will soon be co-hosting a special look at the upcoming DC Extended Universe movies on the network, this could be the beginning of a very interesting relationship between the two parties.

For now though, he’s just pencilled in to take the helm of The Flash this May, and that means he’ll be in charge of one of the final four episodes. The finale itself seems like a good fit for such a big name, »
