Harold Harlan makes lots of references to the Elizabethan era and the age of the buccaneers in this episode.

A buccaneer is another name for a pirate. Surprising how that is a good thing when a public school educated twong boasts about being one.

It never has the same ring when Somalis in a gunboat are looting ships off the coast of Africa. Then you have to hire Tom Hanks to make a movie where he heroically fights them off.

Harlan is all keen on wave power and is keen to start production in Newcastle. Shipbuilding is a dying industry and he has persuaded the unions to go with his idea. Harlan even thinks he might get government backing.

All Harlan needs now is to get rival wave power projects to combine their expertise together. For that Harlan has to charm Kate Randall who works in a rival project.

Surprisingly it is Paul Brack who is cautious. Wave power has a long way to go to be feasible in his opinion. Maybe his caution is due to the fact that he knows his marriage is over.

Well Breck was right in this one. Wave power projects are still horrendously expensive almost 40 years after this episode was aired. Not mention in this episode is the impact on the marine ecosystem.

Still you get to see Harlan fall in love in this episode although it might be a self serving relationship.
