I am perfectly OK with taking a bit of a jump with logic. Martha could have gone around the world with the teleporter. The new master is a bit manic and into pop culture songs even though he is a misanthrope.
I thought that the last two episodes of this were some of the best Russell Davies has done so far. Up to the point of thinking that he was plagiarizing from some other writer on the set. And thats when he came up with the idea to be a complete ass and give all the fans a ending like this.
Though the part I really hated the most of the episode was the ending. It seemed so pushed in like they had to find some way to force the jack's story and Martha leaving just before cut. To be frank, I liked Martha so much more than rose. It was a better fit. The doctor also needed a bigger part in the episode than being in a cage.
Though any doctor who is better than none, just keep that damn Russell Davies away from writing.
