Absolute let down.
30 June 2007 | by See all my reviews

I felt this episode was an absolute let down compared to the BBC's build up and all the hype that surrounded it. I LOVE Dr Who normally, but this episode left me feeling Gutted that the series had ended and GUTTED that this was going to be my lasting memory of it till next year.

SPOILER I know Martha will be back next year, but not in the xmas ep, but still i am a bit annoyed that she left at all. There were so many problems with this episode. The Doctor was not even really in it properly, much like the first episode Tenant appeared in, the show is called DR WHO not everyone BUT Dr Who, STOP DOING EPISODES WITHOUT HIM IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its like watching Superman without powers etc. Whats the point? It wasn't the worst episode ever, but id definitely say it was the WORST finale ever. What were they thinking? The bbc also wrote this up as the Master building a mighty Time Lord empire with warships etc, what did we get? The Master prancing around, a few missiles and a count down. Mention of a human/time lord race but no real substance there as the spheres basically did nothing what so ever for most of the ep.

The acting was great, the characters are always great. There is no fault at all in anything except the writing/story. It was just planely and simply an awful story. Or at least a good idea, very very very much ruined by a shoddy finish. I am so bothered by this because i was really excited at the prospect of a finale that would be better than doomsday and the finale before that. They were classic episodes, this was really not!! Anyway, sorry to be negative! But i am very disappointed.
