'Gone Girl's' Rosamund Pike and Gillian Flynn think we all know an Amazing Amy

3 October 2014 12:30 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

New York — The spotlight is finally on Rosamund Pike. The 35-year-old actress first came to moviegoers' attention 12 years ago when she played a double agent in "Die Another Day." She then alternated between independent films like "Pride & Prejudice," "Barney's Version" and "Made in Dagenham," as well as studio flicks such "Doom," "Surrogates," "Wrath of the Titans" and even opposite Tom Cruise in "Jack Reacher." The biggest media spotlight she'd received was for her supporting role in "An Education," but if you were introduced to her at a party you probably wouldn't know where you recognized her from (or that she was even a movie "star"). That will all change with David Fincher's "Gone Girl." It's a cliche to say Pike's performance as Amy Dunne is a revelation, but, y'know, it sort of is.  Pike just hasn't had an opportunity this rich before and she makes sure you'll never forget "Amazing Amy" (and, »

Pitch Perfect 2 Is Happening And Elizabeth Banks Is Directing

27 January 2014 1:37 PM, PST | | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Elizabeth Banks is not going to sit around and wait for you to get your shit together, Hollywood. The multi-talented actress and comedienne has, like many other actresses of her generation, been trapped in thankless girlfriend roles in stuff like Seabiscuit, and Role Models, but she.s not going to sit down and take it. She openly lobbied for her role as Effie Trinket in the Hunger Games saga, and originated the premise of surprise hit Pitch Perfect, which she also produced. Now, the stunning Banks (who apparently produced the Bruce Willis actioner Surrogates. wha?) is stepping into a new realm: directing. Prepare to get Pitch-slapped once again as Pitch Perfect 2 is slated for a 2015 release, and this time Banks will be behind the camera. The actress, who also shows up in the first film as an overzealous commentator, will be making her feature length directorial debut on the film, »

The Hey U Guys Instant Watching Guide – January 27th 2014

27 January 2014 5:00 AM, PST | | See recent HeyUGuys news »

This week’s best new releases on all the Instant Watching platforms.

Spring Breakers (2013)

Harmony Korine’s critical darling from last year is likely to be talked about and discussed for a good long while yet. Holding up an uncomfortable mirror to our youth, Spring Breakers works on a lot of levels not only does it work as a surface level tale of four out of control girls on a debauched trip in Florida but it also works as a story about the spiritual death and rebirth of Generation Y and asks some important questions about how post war culture evolved into something where our youth think licking power tools in music videos is something to aspire to.

There is a scene fairly early on where the two most rebellious of our heroines sit in class discussing oral sex on paper as their tutor drones on about world war two, »

In the film’s quasi-utopian future, people are encouraged to carry out their most vicious and sadistic desires within the confines of luxurious resorts, where they are supplied with as many humanlike androids to brutalize in however many ways they see fit.

Bruce Willis Ready For Vice

21 January 2014 10:25 AM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

You remember when we said Bruce Willis only seems interested in action films right now? It was a couple of weeks ago, and he’s proving it again, spilling ink on a deal to star in futuristic thriller Vice for Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films.Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore, who wrote one of the other films Willis has just finished, The Prince, are on script duty for this one. Vice is set in a world where humans can live out their wildest, most perverse fantasies on androids. One of the droids becomes self-aware and breaks out with the intent of shutting the whole operation down.Ambyr Childers (2 Guns) is playing the rogue mechanoid, while Willis will be Julian, the owner of a resort that caters to the depraved. It all sounds very Philip K. Dick meets Isaac Asimov, but probably won’t aspire to the high-minded ideas of either. We »
