Trivia

When Hector and Bob first meet the priestess, Bob identifies himself as "John Frum." That is the name of a tall white messianic figure related to the cargo cults in the islands of that region. Perhaps it was meant as joke by the writers, or perhaps the character Bob was hoping to be mistaken as a god to get what he wanted (alla The Man Who Would Be King.) In either case, the priestess doesn't take the bait. See more »

Goofs

Although set in Papua New Guinea, many errors are present: - None of the 'native' people are Melanesian (the ethnicity of Papuans, Solomon Islanders and Fijians) - The languages spoken are not New Guinean, although 'pidgin' (a mixture of English and Pacific Island) is spoken at one point. This is the most likely language to be spoken to Westerners in these regions - Missionaries have not been present in any significance in PNG for decades - The dress and jewellery worn is not from New Guinea, or only bears slight resemblance - Animal skins are seen in a remote village that are not on the island (especially big cat skins) See more »
