Storyline

Two down and out friends living in Venice, California, struggle in social and economic deprivation. They reach the point where they can't go on. Escalating pressures force them to hatch a wild get-rich-quick scheme in a last ditch attempt to solve "all of their problems". The far-fetched scheme involves one of them being bitten by a rat in a major supermarket with the fantastical hopes of winning an outrageously huge settlement. What transpires is a perfect example of "the best laid plans of mice and men" where reality trumps delusion and, in one comic turn after another, depravity gives way to humanity. Wicked Comedy in the style of great David Mamet work!
11 May 2008 | by (Los Angeles) – See all my reviews

The Rat Thing is an awesome thing. I did not know this filmmaker before I saw the movie, nor any of the actors, and this comment is 100% honest and from the heart. If David Mamet was writing comedies right now this is would be the result. Great dialog, super timing from the actors, and this movie has the look of a very polished high budget movie. Everyone in the audience where I saw it at a festival in Oklahoma rolling was in the aisles. The three actors playing the leads are excellent, and the editing is tight. Not to mention the Rat! It's one thing to make a great indie feature, it completely another to make one with a live Rat! This movie deserves to be up on the big screen. Great work! I highly recommend it.
