One Wrong Turn Deserves Another

"I'm telling you, Olive, we made a wrong turn back there," says Popeye. We should have been to Coney Island by now," says Popeye.

Ya think?

Popeye, Olive and Wimpy are in a little convertible that is fast approaching Egypt - the African country. When the auto overheats and collapses, Wimpy characteristically suggests, "Let's take advantage of this catastrophe and eat lunch!"

The story then involves Popeye having to save Olive (again) from Egyptians who are going to cook her, and keep an eye on Wimpy at the same time, so he doesn't eat all the hamburgers

This was good episode with a few more clever gags than normal on the King Features 'toons of the '60s, which usually were geared for little kids. This had adult humor, such as Popeye turning to the director and saying, "what this cartoon needs is English subtitles." And, at the end, we had Wimpy instead of Popeye singing the finale which went, "It's bad to be tardy to a hamburger party, says Wimpy The Burger Man!"

Instead of a "toot, toot," two buttons pop out of his inflated stomach (after he had devoured all the hamburgers, as usual.)
