George, a lonely and fatalistic teen who has made it all the way to his senior year without ever having done a real day of work, is befriended by Sally, a popular but complicated girl who recognizes in him a kindred spirit.
It's been three weeks, two days, and 23 hours since Tris broke up with Nick. And now here she is at his gig, with a new guy. How could she have moved on so fast? This begins the night of Nick, Norah and Manhattan. The night of stripping nuns, hotel ice rooms, Russian food, psychotic ex-boyfriends and lovingly trashy ex-girlfriends. It's the night of Julio and Salvatore. The night of holding hands and writing songs and singing in the rain. It's a night they'll never forget. Written by
The film originally opened at The Jerkoffs show where Norah first meets Nick. All prior scenes (including Nick leaving a voicemail on Tris' phone, the scenes with Norah, Caroline, and Tris at the Catholic school, etc.) were re-shoots filmed six months after principal production was wrapped. When Norah takes Nick inside her dad's studio, he picks up a Stratocaster and says "it's left-handed." Nick is correct; this is a right-handed guitar that is strung upside down with the strap switched for use by a left-handed guitar player. That is how Jimi Hendrix played. The scene takes place in Electric Lady Studios, which was the studio Hendrix built as explained by Nick in the movie and hence, we are to assume that this is one of Jimi's guitars. See more »
If they gave an Academy Award for Most Adorable Movie, this would definitely win. I'm NOT a teenager, so I'm certainly NOT the target audience for this movie. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought the casting was perfect, the performances were delightful and the music was terrific. What more do you want from any romantic comedy, except for it to be funny and romantic? This qualifies. You're rooting for Nick and Norah, almost from the first frame. And all the supporting characters are wonderful. Also, there are some fun cameos, which gives the movie that Inside Baseball feel that makes it that much more of a hoot. I may even buy the DVD (which makes this a rave review!)
