It showcases how the Federal Government start to take an interest in him due to his relationships with mobsters as well as political contacts which in turn put his illegal operation in jeopardy.

The Second Season of 'Boardwalk Empire' sees Nucky trying to cover for his illegal activities from the authorities who manages to find evidence of his misconduct. Most of his so called partners in crime have also decided to go against him and results in Nucky trying to outwit them all.
