I don't care much for any type of anime. I only watched this because I wanted to see a Buddhist-based cartoon. But, the "basis" is just a strange setting for a horny kid to be harassed by a group of girls who follow the typical "types" of animation(or general movies, for that matter)--the flirt, the tomboy(or closet lesbian), the book worm, the quiet one, and so on. The girls are training to become Buddhist nuns and the one boy is training to be a monk. They are overseen by a toad-like elder nun who is the boy's grandmother.
The plots revolve around moronic ghost sitings that threaten either the main characters or townspeople. The monk has some hidden super ability to vanquish ghosts and spirits whenever he gets.........aroused. Yeah, what a great premise. Must be why so many people have commented on this series since it began. From what I saw, there is no nudity, just implied or slightly covered. The monk sees some flesh, he flips out, his powers suddenly turn on and he vanquishes the evil.
I can't say the animation is much better than Pokemon and other garbage like that. The actual drawings are decent, if you like anime, but most of the time, the characters don't move around in scenes, only their mouths move(to save on production costs). It's all rather annoying and makes me love western animation so much more, even if we don't draw too many sexy female characters. You can find episodes online, so watch one just to see its weird premise, but don't invest in this nonsense. If you want to be excited by cartoons, I'm sure there are a lot more revealing series out there. Happy hunting.
