Delivers what it promises

How can I describe this movie? To start with, it doesn't just deliver blood-suckers, but flesh-eaters. The whole film is shot with a "Your daughter's fifth-grade play" camera, and the sound is at times in-audible.

I can't tell you if you should see this movie or not, until you answer this question: Do you like to see young women feasting on man-flesh? If so, you will enjoy this movie for all it's corniness. Despite my expectations, a lot of the acting shows genuine enthusiasm, effort and energy. Sure, it may have the production values of a failed porno movie, but this film has value within its perverse little niche. There are some inexplicably memorable and compelling performances in this film. Sure, you may root for the cannibals, but that's no flaw within this particular film's schema.

This movie reinforces something: when it comes to scary vampires/cannibals, it's all in the body language and the eyes. There's something about those deep, black eyes that terrifies me in a way no movie this cheap should. o_o On the other hand, there are some wanna-be nefarious characters that didn't quite live up to their potential. I have to penalize this film for not giving us the most charismatic cannibal we could have had. :(

Based on a B movie meter.

While the acting is inconsistent, at least most of the cast give a strong effort, with Heidi Brucker (as Samantha) and Danilo Mancinelli (as Zack) doing an excellent job under the circumstances. The music seems to be a mix of original material (by a number of different artists) and library material, but it's introduced well and punctuates a few scenes impressively. It's also shot in a number of attractive locations throughout Burbank, and the choice to film most scenes in the daytime at least helps avoid many of the lighting issues which affect many low-budget productions.

Worth a watch if you are into the Campy Horror type Genre from the 80's. Though, it is an ambitious attempt at horror comedy, Bloodsucking Babes from Burbank wears its intentions on its sleeve, but is neither funny enough - nor scary enough - to be anything but a confusing mish-mash of genres.

I love these Blood Sucking Babes.........

If you are one of those high maintenance individuals that feel that other people should kiss the ground you walk on, then this movie is not for you. This movie is for people that just wanna have fun and enjoy themselves for a couple of hours. Blood Sucking Babes has blood and gore(cheesy at times), it has some nudity(breasts), by the way, the brunette chick that hooked up with the lead character of Zack is pretty hot, and finally, the movie does actually have a plot. These Babe Cannibals are everything I expected, I had a blast. I hope they come out with a Blood Sucking Babes sequel. Invite some friends over, pass out the beer and chips, and enjoy yourselves.

Must See Movie.

Very good movie. Not quite what your expecting.

If your a Indie movie lover, you will love this one! The movie seemed purposely cheesy and not really scary but has a unique story line that sets it apart from other movies in it's class.

It never got dull and I have since watched it a few times and still keeps my attention.

The special effects are superb for a low budget flick. While I am no expert on special effects, I have seen hundreds of these movies and this one stands out! The acting is very good for a low budget movie. Pay attention to the lead character of Zack. This actor plays his parts with passion like he really means it! Makes the unbelievable, believable.

I recommend to all.

This isn't a bad flick. It has several very good aspects ... A workable plot and sub plot ( a little lame in spots ), VERY good continuity, a music score that works well enough most of the time, better than average photography, and a few of the players are actually pretty good. The Lawnmower Guy, the Blond Dude in the bar, and some of the others come across as real. Thats always a plus. ( As an aside, I think the Lawnmower Guy is my favorite character. He isn't a great actor, but he comes across as a slightly demented retard, and that works well in this movie. ) The special effects? Well, thats kind of the low place in this flick. They're not that good. Hint: There should have been blood on the axe. But hey, with body parts and blood its whatever works. Brightest of the bright spots ... Kudos to the director. Obvious talent there. I liked this. Its fun. It ain't House of Wax or Little Shop of Horrors, but for a low budget independent film its way better than most of what I see on Satuday night Sci-Fi Channel. Maybe this is what Rob Zombie would do without drugs. Now THATS scary!

Cannibal Chicks from California
milkhole21328 December 2021
This is film #39 from the Decrepit Crypt of Nightmares box set. I skipped #38 because it's City in Panic (13 on this set) which is a pretty good sleazefest and there's a DVD release of it from Massacre Video which I'm sure is in better quality. Bloodsucking Babes from Burbank feels like something made with the involvement of Jeffrey Leroy or David Sterling but puzzingly neither of them are invovled here. Also, this should probably have been called Cannibal Chicks from California as there are no vampires involved. This is about competing teams of archeologists, mostly women trying to find ancient artifacts. One team is even focued on sex toys from Pompeii! Obviously this isn't a very serious movie. Some of the girls are pretty cute and of course the prettiest one dies about halfway through. Considering the subject matter and tone nudity is suprisingly sparse, only appearing after the halfway part and not especially noteworthy. One of the nude scenes involves a woman who looks like Artemis from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, one of my least favorite characters from that show along with Cricket. This scene I could have done without. The whole plot is goofy and disheveled, not making much sense. Women rub ancient jewels on themselves and turn into cannibals. The gore here is pretty good- cheap and messy, mostly practical with some goofy and pointless CG additions. The acting is passable and the production values aren't too dreadful. Better than many films of this kind and worth a watch for fans of films made by Leroy, Sterling and Dennis Devine.
