The scene where Mike/Mark stands up and defends his son Alex in the school cafeteria is similar to the scene where Marty stands up, also in a school cafeteria, against Biff to defend his father. In addition there is the scene where Mike/Mark wakes up after getting knocked out and he says that he had a dream and thinks he is talking to his mother. Only to realize that it's not a dream and he in fact was lying on his daughter's lap. A copy of a similar scene found in all three Back To The Future-movies.
