Grey’s Anatomy firefighter spinoff gets straight-to-series order

18 May 2017 8:45 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

ABC has announced a spinoff from the medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, with THR reporting that the network has placed a straight-to-series order for a new series based around a group of heroic firefighters.

Creator Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers will executive produce the spinoff, with Stacy McKee serving as showrunner, and the first episode will air as a planted episode of the main show, with THR speculating that it will likely be the season thirteen finale, which features an explosion at the hospital. As yet, there’s no word on an episode count for the season, or a launch date.

“No one can interweave the jeopardy firefighters face in the line of duty with the drama in their personal lives quite like Shonda, and Grey’s signature Seattle setting is the perfect backdrop for this exciting spinoff,” said ABC president Channing Dungey as part of the official announcement.

While the network has always been really good about keeping big spoilers out of the synopses, at the very least, you can get a glimpse of where the momentum for each show is going.

Have a look at the synopses below!
