When two workers open a crypt in the mausoleum of a fictional national cemetery in Virginia (to prepare for the interment of the remains of a young Marine in the family vault), the tomb explodes; Gibbs and company investigate; Ducky explains the physics of the explosion, and he later, after reassembling assorted parts of at least three skeletons from the chamber, suggests that Gibbs needs to start seeking a mass murderer. Abby, in a lousy mood, says that the parts are from five different people. Gibbs and Hollis open two more crypts and find more parts. There is a scene where Ducky and Jimmy Palmer are organizing the bones in the autopsy room. At first they believe they have two bodies, a man and a woman, and they are announcing unique body parts as they place them on the respective tables. Jimmy says, "right hand" and places a right hand, then Ducky says, "right hand" and picks up a right hand as he talks about the death of an African king.
