Storyline
A dead astronaut is found in a crater, and the remains appear to have fallen from a great height without a parachute. Hodgins analyzes the bones and concludes that the body was in space for a long time before it fell to earth; he immediately turns to explanations of extraterrestrial life and a government conspiracy. Brennan and Booth learn the identity of the victim and talk to his family and co-workers, only to be stymied at every turn by the confidentiality involved in the space program. Strange slash-like injuries are discovered on the body and the group realizes that the death was not an accident. They desperately attempt to solve the murder and to figure out how the body ended up in a crater looking like it fell from space. Meanwhile, Hodgins continues to try to win Angela over. Written by

B&B investigate the death of a man who apparently fell from the sky. He was an astronaut suffering from significant bone loss, due to time spent in outer space, which affects one's bone density. Hodgins figures there must be ETs involved somehow. Odd slash marks on various parts of the remains turn the investigators in another direction, but not before B&B butt heads with the space agency, which wants to keep everything hush-hush. And there's something very odd about the dead man's family. Maybe a little too clever for its own good, nevertheless the episode is a decent example of BONES for the uninitiated. When they see the astronaut's splattered remains at the show's outset, they'll know if this series is for them. It tends to be a bit grislier than anything seen on HOUSE.
