Warning: Spoilers
During second world war Fabio and Gino, two deserters find their hi-dding place in Ginoes village and Fabio finds a job working for count Innocenti. After counts son leaves for the front his wife Ginevra finds a comfort in Fabios arms. Rosa,Ginoes sister is secretly in love with Fabio. She is tormented soul, because her past romance with her cousin ended tragically and now she is unable to have children. Her uncle Piero is a fascist who hates her father and dreams of catching his son Gino for desertion. When he succeeds in killing Gino and his Father. Rosa leaves to join partisans. She asks Fabio to join her but he cant because countess Ginevra, now a widow and separated from her father in law is pregnant with his child. This mini series definitely did a good job depicting the life during the war. It reminded me of Fiesta where Jean- Lui Trentignant says to young Gregoire Colin(Raul) that during war you can eliminate a cousin or other relative you dislike for any reason. And that is exactly what happened to Gino and his Father. Fabio is a pathetic character. He doesn't just fall for the countess but every decision he makes is made for her wellbeing. He is too submissive and countess made plans which always failed and she had no choice but to ask him to help her. Rosa makes for herself a new life and becomes one of the leaders of partisans. Lovely scenery, I just loved the look of Counts house and his vineyards. And Ginoes village was very authentic also. I liked the first movie more. The second was less family drama and more action. It was disappointing.
