Plot Summary

After Werner and Henriette Wallner plunged their happy marriage into a deep crisis in "The Dream of the South", they now live in separate apartments. While the lively Henriette finds plenty of employment and fulfillment in her daughter Elke's thriving cake shop, Werner comes with it It's difficult to cope with being alone: he doesn't have a job to do, so he checks on everything in his former shop almost every day - much to the displeasure of his son Thomas, who has taken over the noble men's fashion store from his father. At Elke's atmospheric wedding to the writer Sebastian, Werner realizes that there is only one way out of his misery: he must win Henriette back at all costs. With the active support of his mother-in-law Mimi, he gets to work. However, he faces unexpected competition in the form of the rich Abdul Al Hakim, who wants to order hundreds of cakes from Henriette and Elke for a royal wedding in Saudi Arabia. But that's not all: there seems to be a spark between Henriette and the noble envoy right from the first meeting. While Werner takes great pains to prepare a romantic dinner to surprise Henriette, the extremely charming man of the world Al Hakim immediately brings out the big guns and has Henriette and Elke chauffeured to a luxurious dinner in a luxury limousine. Mimi, Elke and Thomas' subsequent coupling attempts do not bring the hoped-for success either. Henriette keeps her husband at a safe distance. But then Werner observes his wife with Al Hakim in a seemingly clear situation - and suddenly a combative temperament awakens in the awkward Werner that neither he nor Henriette would have thought possible.
