Character error

No federal agent wears their weapon exposed in public, unless they're on the HRT or SWAT team. The weapons are kept covered at all times in public.

In S1 Episode 16, "The Tribe," Hotch and his brother Sean have an argument in which they talk about their father dying tragically of a sudden heart attack in his forties, related to stress. In this episode, however, the cause of their dad's death has been changed to lung cancer.

Errors in geography

At the beginning of the episode, the home is identified as being located in South San Francisco. South San Francisco is not part of San Francisco; it is an incorporated city in San Mateo County that doesn't even share a border with San Francisco, which is a consolidated city and county. Yet the police officers who respond to the crime scene belong to the San Francisco Police Department. Why would SFPD respond to a crime outside of its own city--and in a completely different county? South San Francisco Police or San Mateo Sheriffs should respond.

Later in the show, the suspect is in the "harbor area." San Francisco does have docks along its northeastern and eastern shores, but the area pictured does not look like anything in San Francisco. The only comparable area, the old Hunters Point shipyard, is largely closed off to the public, and the buildings in the show don't resemble anything in Hunters Point.

Factual errors

The ID for a suspect shows the residence city to be "Freemont" while there is a so named city in the SF Bay Area, it is spelled "Fremont"

The chime on the Unsub's Ford sounds more like that of a Chevy/GM car when the door is open.
