Up for the Cup!
14 November 2009 | by (Ambrosia) – See all my reviews

Leslie has two tickets for the Cup Final. Being a massive football fan, he is greatly looking forward to it. But when Walter accidentally destroys the envelope the tickets came in, it looks as though he won't get to see it. Fortunately, Leslie has the tickets about his person. With Ada, Ruth and Walter in tow, he heads for Wembley Stadium...

First episode to significantly utilise Jack Smethurst. The plot was later reworked by Vince Powell as 'Match Of The Day', an episode of the final season of A.T.V.'s 'A Sharp Intake Of Breath' starring David Jason. Instead of burning the envelope, Peter Barnes absent-mindedly popped it into a post-box.

Ruth's disdain for the stout, pipe-smoking Walter has decreased noticeably since the previous episode. Actual Cup Final footage was incorporated, adding greatly to the reality.

Funniest moment - Leslie thrown forcibly out of the grounds by a policeman who thinks he is a hooligan.
