WHERE are those missing 99 John Wayne flicks . . .
. . . and what ARE they keeping from us?! If you count up "Il Duce's" theatrically released feature films here on IMDb, you'll come up with exactly 166 (when you exclude such errata as a guest appearance on the canceled TV situation comedy, THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES). But the narrator of THE SHOOTIST: THE LEGEND LIVES ON opens by stating that Wayne made "nearly 200 films," and then one of the witnesses subsequently quotes Wayne as claiming that THE SHOOTIST was his 265th movie--a whopping 99 MORE than IMDb knows about. (Don't forget that up to half of the 166 titles that IMDb alleges involve Wayne are Micro Roles such as his "part" in THE DROP-KICK, where Wayne's on-screen for 9/10ths of one second at the most, "portraying" a football fan in a packed stadium. If I cared to toot my own horn, I should have 80 to 90 credits myself for similar appearances on recent Reality TV shows.) Leaving THE DROP-KICK out of it, why didn't the makers of this "Featurette" focus on what many Americans are dying to know: How can we watch these 99 apparently suppressed (or banned) John Wayne flicks? Even if they're more Politically Incorrect by today's standards than his other 166 movies, the Public has a historic right to see them ASAP!
