I always look forward to both the BAFTA television and film awards, but the film awards are definitely my favourite ceremony, especially if I have seen the films nominated, so I can hope certain ones win. Hosted by Jonathan Ross, 2007 saw some great films nominated and winning the famous golden mask award, in all the categories: Best Film, Best British Film, Best Leading Actor, Best Leading Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Screenplay, Best Music, Best Animated Film, the Fellowship award, Outstanding British Contribution To Cinema, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Editing, Best Film not in the English Language, Best Makeup & Hair, Best Production Design, Best Rising Star, Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, Best Short Film and Best Short Animation. Films nominated and winning in this year included: Apocalypto, Babel, Cars, Casino Royale, The Departed, The Devil Wears Prada, Dreamgirls, Flushed Away, Happy Feet, The History Boys, The Last King of Scotland, Little Children, Little Miss Sunshine, London to Brighton, Marie Antoinette, Notes on a Scandal, Pan's Labyrinth, Peter and the Wolf, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, The Queen, Superman Returns, United 93, Venus and Volver. It also included a tribute to all the filmmakers and stars who had passed away in the last year, including Peter Boyle, Red Buttons, Richard Fleischer, Jack Palance, Chris Penn and Adrienne Shelly. Stars seen at the ceremony, and nominated or winning, included Jamie Bell, Emily Blunt, Toni Collette, Daniel Craig, Penélope Cruz, Ricky Gervais, Eva Green, Jake Gyllenhaal, Sir Anthony Hopkins, James McAvoy, Sir Ian McKellen, Sienna Miller, Kylie Minogue, Dame Helen Mirren, Thandie Newton, Simon Pegg, Emily Watson, Forest Whitaker and Kate Winslet. Very good!
