Storyline

A middle-aged man's corpse is found buried in a dam spillway. He survived stabbing and shooting, but died from a skull-perforation with something like an ice-pick and was coated in cement, still alive. Booth, who suffers from an infected tooth but dreads the dentist more, soon finds 'cement-head' was William Raymund 'Billy Rae' McKenna, his probable killer ('ice-pick', his trademark weapon) Hugh Kennedy -who died in a car fire after his leg was severed while fleeing bounty hunter Veleska Miller- was a rival in the gang of West Virginia crime king Melvin Gallagher, whose 'pilot' Clark Lightner is clearly smarter. Bones coldly calls the police when her dad Max Keenan turns up at her mother's grave; later Max slips into her flat, to demand she checks his own police record, which shows nothing mean, then tips her off Kennedy is a miniature airplane-fan, who cut off his own leg to stage his death; Booth finds him, only to be knocked down by him and found by Gallagher and Lightner, who ... Trivia

Cement vs concrete is mentioned repeatedly. Cement is generally Portland cement, dry, finely ground calcined limestone which becomes a slurry when mixed with water, the slurry then cureing to a very hard very brittle substance. To make concrete you add aggregates, generally a mix of sand and gravel. These aggregates make concrete less brittle and much tougher than mere cement. Oddly, the supposed concrete where we first see the skull exposed, and the bronchial tube and sinus cavity concrete casts have a uniformly fine texture completely lacking in aggregates. See more »

B and B investigate the remains of a guy buried in concrete, who may be a notorious contract killer. Turns out the contract killer is very much alive, and various folks, not all nice, are looking for him. Brennan's long-missing dad (Ryan O'Neal), a wanted man, unexpectedly turns up and ends up helping her with the case. Booth takes a serious beating at the hands of some bad guys in this one. He also has a whopper of a toothache. And on top of everything else, he must deal with a wily bounty hunter, who happens to be very sexy. CONCRETE is worth catching just to see Booth take a whupping. And to see B and B harmonize on an old Poco tune. Oh, and the bounty hunter really is a babe.
