Well-made documentary on a great American singer. The film (I own the extended version) provides an informative and entertaining overview of Laine's life and career that continues to satisfy after multiple viewings. Kay Starr, Mitch Miller, Patti Page, and Howard Keel are among the stars interviewed. Laine's long life would make for a fascinating mini-series, with his early years (he spent the first 17 years of his career as a world record setting marathon dancer and often homeless jazz singer, "scuffling" about Depression Era America in search of gigs) being of particular interest. It's a much-needed tribute to a true American master.
