Since this episode didn't air when it was originally supposed to, they had to re-shoot a few scenes that centered around Hodgins proposing to Angela. By the time this episode aired, there was a proposal accepted and they were almost married. Other than that everything else is the same. This explains why Brennan expresses surprise that Booth was a jock in spite of the fact that they had previously discussed it quite a bit in episode 3x7, "The Boy in the Time Capsule."
The original air date of this episode, which involves a murder on a college campus, was delayed a full year in the wake of the tragic mass shooting at Virginia Tech on April 16th, 2007. Incidentally, something very similar happened to star David Boreanaz, almost exactly eight years earlier when an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997) titled "Earshot," which involved a school shooting plot, was postponed following the tragedy at Columbine High.
RJ Manning is described by Chief Cutler as "Magic Boy" - RJ was the name of the sports star who attracted women magically in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Him, s7e6).
Mekia Cox and Taylor Kinney both starred in the "Chicago Universe" created by Dick Wolf. Mekia had a recurring role in Chicago Med, while Taylor is one of the main character of Chicago Fire. The two shows, being part of the same universe, cross over each other.
