Trivia

The original air date of this episode, which involves a murder on a college campus, was delayed a full year in the wake of the tragic mass shooting at Virginia Tech on April 16th, 2007. Incidentally, something very similar happened to star David Boreanaz, almost exactly eight years earlier when an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997) titled "Earshot," which involved a school shooting plot, was postponed following the tragedy at Columbine High. Goofs

Booth tells Brennan a story about his jock days, saying the last time he was under the bleachers was in the eighth grade. However, in earlier of season two, we learn that he had sex with someone under the bleachers. See more »

Quotes

Ed Dekker: You think I had sex with R.J.?
Special Agent Seeley Booth: I don't know. Did you?
Ed Dekker: No!
Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan: Then why'd you bring it up?
Ed Dekker: You brought it up. All I did was pee in a cup.
Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan: Why?
Ed Dekker: Because Jimmy's a teammate and he asked me to. I would've done it for any of my bros.
Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan: How did this boy get into college?
Special Agent Seeley Booth: Basketball.

B&B investigate the remains of a star college basketball player found crushed to death under the bleachers in the college gym. But was he dead before or after the bleachers were closed? It gets worse: the player apparently was on steroids. Brennan gets an introduction to the world of jocks and a side of college she certainly never experienced. Not much frivolity here. There's a side angle involving the sexual antics of the students, which eventually leads to the solution. Not one of my favorite episodes. But for those who decide to watch it, remember blue lipstick. And you get to see Brennan showing a maternal side when she finds a nest of baby rats inside the corpse's body.
