Trivia

The original air date of this episode, which involves a murder on a college campus, was delayed a full year in the wake of the tragic mass shooting at Virginia Tech on April 16th, 2007. Incidentally, something very similar happened to star David Boreanaz, almost exactly eight years earlier when an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997) titled "Earshot," which involved a school shooting plot, was postponed following the tragedy at Columbine High. Goofs

Because the episode aired out of its original intended order, several plot lines were skewed. In the original unaired version this episode, Dr. Hodgins is considering proposing to Anglea when, in fact, they were already engaged in the season 2 episode "The Glowing Bones in the 'Old Stone House'". Quotes

Dallas Verona: R.J. like girls. All kinds of girls. I'm just one kind.
Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan: Hm. Which kind is that?
Dallas Verona: The permanent kind.
Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan: You plan to live like that?
Dallas Verona: R.J. came home to me. That's the way it would've stayed. From his crappy student apartment, to the giant mansion he would've gotten me.
[starts crying and turns away]
Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan: [to Booth] Is she crying because she loved him or because she lost a mansion?

B&B investigate the remains of a star college basketball player found crushed to death under the bleachers in the college gym. But was he dead before or after the bleachers were closed? It gets worse: the player apparently was on steroids. Brennan gets an introduction to the world of jocks and a side of college she certainly never experienced. Not much frivolity here. There's a side angle involving the sexual antics of the students, which eventually leads to the solution. Not one of my favorite episodes. But for those who decide to watch it, remember blue lipstick. And you get to see Brennan showing a maternal side when she finds a nest of baby rats inside the corpse's body.
