Had the show not been canceled, Nick and Karen would have married, Jeremy would have been stranded in outer space, Letitia would have engaged in another affair, and Patrick would have been assassinated while running for President.
Several actors are replaced after the pilot. E.g. Elle Fanning (as Kiki George) is replaced by Chloë Grace Moretz from episode two, and Brooke Smith (as Andrea Smithson) is replaced by Sheryl Lee, when the character reappears in episode 7.

After ABC canceled the show at the end of 2008, the last four episodes of the 2nd season remained unaired until Spanish TV-channel Antena 3 aired them in March 2009. This means, the last episodes of the show had their world premiere on Spanish television and were not aired in the US until the Summer of 2009.
