As Sometimes Happens, A Minor Crime Turns Into A Major Crime
31 December 2008 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Six showgirls, all living together and all killed one night, stabbed to death by some maniac. That's the crime: find this killer.

Actually, I shouldn't say "all killed" because one of the girls was found near death under a bed. She whispers something to Sara (Jorja Fox) before expiring second later. It turns out to be a clue to the murderer.

This is a grisly stuff but a fast-moving episode that is interesting. I've always thought it was better when CSI concentrated on one good story, rather than break the 45 minutes into two or three stories.

Veteran actress Ruby Dee makes a short appearance as a grandma who knew "Warrick" (Gary Dourdan) as a kid. One of victims was the woman's granddaughter "Emily." It appears that this horrific crime was not planned, that it just happened. That is true in real-life, too. Many times a burglar enters a house thinking nobody is home, is surprised, and winds up killing those that are home , turning a route burglary into a homicide.

The title to this episode, "Empty Eyes," refers to a remark the killer makes at the end of the show. Life going out of the eyes is the sign for him that he has just killed someone. He's seems to get a kick out of that. Wow: cold.......very cold.
