Fox’s upcoming DC / Vertigo adaptation Lucifer has found its female lead, with Deadline revealing that Lauren German (The Divide) is set to play Chloe Dancer.

The site describes the character as an “Lapd homicide detective who finds herself both repulsed and fascinated by Lucifer. As they work together to solve a murder, Lucifer is struck by Chloe’s inherent goodness. Used to dealing with the absolute worst of humanity, Lucifer begins to wonder if there’s hope yet.”

Tom Ellis (Once Upon a Time) is set to lead the cast of Lucifer as the titular Lord of Hell, with Lina Esco (Cane) portrating Maze. The pilot is being directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld), with Tom Kapinos (Californation) serving as showrunner.

DC's 'Lucifer' TV Show Adds Lina Esco as Demon Mazikeen

5 March 2015 9:42 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Fox and DC Comics have brought on Lina Esco to star in their Lucifer pilot, just one week after they cast actor Tom Ellis as the title character. Lina Esco is playing Mazikeen, a fierce demon who takes the form of a beautiful young woman. In the comics, Mazikeen serves as Lucifer's best friend, bodyguard and occasional lover. In the pilot, the character will be known as Maze.

The plot follows Lucifer, who, after growing bored of ruling over hell, decides to abandon his post and head to Los Angeles, where he finds amusement in helping the L.A.P.D. punish criminals. The earlier version of the pilot script also had Lucifer coming to L.A., but instead of punishing criminals, he opens a piano bar dubbed Lux. This piano bar aspect of the story has since been abandoned. The character first originated in Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics, »

Lucifer Pilot Adds Lina Esco As 'Mazikeen'

4 March 2015 11:35 AM, PST | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

It seems ol' Scratch will have some company when he relocates to a slightly cooler climate. Deadline report that Cane actress Lina Esco has been cast alongside Tom Ellis in Fox's Lucifer, playing a character named Maze (almost certainly Mazikeen from the comics), who is described as "Lucifer’s best friend... a fierce demon in the form of a beautiful young woman." Esco has appeared in CSI and the Heroes webseries Heroes: Destiny, as well as co-writing, directing and starring in the independent film, Free The Nipple. The pilot will be directed by Len Wiseman (the Total Recall remake, Underworld), who will also executive produce along with Tom Kapinos, Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman. The original logline for the show was pretty similar to the comic series, and had Lucifer growing tired with his infernal responsibilities and relocating to La where he opened an exclusive piano bar called Lux.
