Episode cast overview:
Monica Geller (as Courteney Cox Arquette)
Joey Tribbiani (as Matt Le Blanc)

Richard tells Monica that letting her go was the stupidest thing he's ever done and he wants to marry her and have kids. Monica is getting weary because Chandler is carrying on about not wanting to get married in order to hide his plans to propose. Rachel finds out that Phoebe and Joey have each other as backup, meaning if they're both not married by the age of 40 they'll marry each other. Rachel is very jealous of Monica and wants a backup as well and asks Ross but Phoebe is Ross' backup. Chandler realizes he has to stop messing with Monica and propose already. Monica goes to see Richard and says wants to be with a grown-up but it isn't fair that Richard wants to marry her now and not before. Monica says she will need some time to think things over. Rachel trades Phoebe and Ross is now Rachel's backup. Chandler talks to Richard and Richard tells Chandler to go get Monica and to never let her go. Even though only about 10 minutes pass between this season finale and the premiere of the next season, Chandler has lost a significant amount of weight and Rachel's hair is noticeably shorter. However, these were unavoidable physical changes undergone by the actors themselves and can not be considered continuity errors on the part of the producers of the series. See more »

The One with the Proposal: Part 2
19 August 2011 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

I really dislike this episode. Monica is a character I hate very much. I already dislike her strong obsession with marriage. For her it is more important to be married than to be with the person she loves. The idea that two people can live with each other and be in love for the rest of their life without a piece of paper is hard to imagine for her. To her this is a "dead end relationship", because all she needs is to show the social status of marriage to everyone, not to be with the person she is happy with

And Monica is right, it is "unfair". But for a different reason than she thinks. It is unfair that two pretty decent guys are getting upset by her and actually want to waste their life on such a nasty scumbag as her. I found it horrible that Richard now wanted to have kids, that he felt that he made a mistake and that he was wrong. He was not wrong! He chose to live the life the way he wanted instead of sacrificing it for one of the most selfish, nasty people he probably ever met. Of course it is just a TV show, in reality people like her end up alone, without relationships and without friends.

Horrible story, horrible ending.

I won't give the episode less than 5 points for 2 reasons: the story with back ups was pretty amusing and because for people that unlike me wouldn't rather see Monica being thrown out of the window as the happy end, the ending was pretty well done and kind of surprising
