Solid episode, it's a trippy story.

This is quite a complicated story, how on Earth did a man get buried in a garden in Hampstead?

It's an interesting story, once again it's pretty bleak, some interesting conflicts among the regulars. The issue here for me, are the characters, they are all so odd, and theatrical. If I'm honest I'd place this on par with Deux Ex Machina.

Best scene has to be where Grace finally gives it straight to Boyd, incredibly harsh in her words, that's years of frustration finally being released, Boyd has been unbearable this series, he's gotten more and more angry and unreasonable.

They play heavily on Eve's eccentricity here, she continues spouting technical jargon, with her colleagues looking at her bemused. She really does provide the only lighter moments.

Voodoo lilies truly are the most amazing plants on Earth.

It's pretty good, 6/10.

Zero sympathy for Boyd

Excellent though this show is, I've often had real trouble watching it thanks to the utterly obnoxious behaviour of the Trevor Eve character.

I know we're all very well used to TV police having one "issue" or another, but surely the idea is to make them that much more human and sympathetic so we care about their "journey". Boyd has been written as downright dislikeable from the start - and if anything has only become worse - and as a result I have no interest in his problems or how he plans to remedy them.

Grace finally gave him a very long overdue earful at the start of this episode, but will he see the light at last and improve in the long term? I somehow doubt it.

I'd been watching the superb Unforgotten kind of alongside this show - what a contrast! Yes, the main protagonist, DCI Cassie Stuart, has the usual slew of problems, but there's barely so much as a raised voice in the entire series - and you care about her.

8 for the episode, zero for Boyd.

What a relief!

I have watched this series so far one story after another almost as fast as I can. (still watching) I have to say, when Grace Finally Finally confronted Boyd over his inappropriate and untenable treatment of both her and the rest of the team, I have to say I myself felt huge relief! I kept wondering just how much abuse this strong, smart woman could stand! And she told him some hard home truths! I understand she was trying to give him some slack regarding the loss of Mel, as well as his ongoing worry about his missing son, but at last she told him to get some help. And she wisely walked away and he found he needed her for the exact case they were working. I am looking forward to see where it goes in the next episode.

This was a rather crazy case. Difficult to watch, to see how the mentally ill were treated and experimented on, and even used. It goes deep and I think we need to have that ongoing conversation to destigmatize and demystify mental illness and the people who suffer from them. They solved the cold case, but the ending wasn't very satisfying. Painful really.

Well told story and superb acting as usual!
