Mark Wahlberg Asks God's Forgiveness for Boogie Nights

Mark Wahlberg Asks God's Forgiveness for Boogie Nights
Mark Wahlberg has made some real stinkers in his long and storied career as an actor. So when asked if there was one movie he'd like to be forgiven for, some would think the immediate answer would be one of the two Transformers movies he's appeared in, or the truly terrible M. Night Shyamalan thriller The Happening. But no, the devote Catholic actually chose the acclaimed Oscar-nominated Paul Thomas Anderson drama Boogie Nights.

Sure, Boogie Nights was both a critical and commercial hit, and still has a legion of fans to this day. But when asked if he's ever prayed to God for forgiveness when it comes to one of his movies, he didn't hesitate to name Boogie Nights. The actor was with Cardinal Blase Cupich this past Friday, when he said this about answering for some of his movie sins.

"I just always hope that God is a movie fan and also forgiving,

‘Glass’: Everything You Need to Know As M. Night Shyamalan Begins Filming His ‘Unbreakable’/’Split’ Sequel
The M. Night Shyamalan renaissance is going to hit its peak in 2019 with the release of “Glass.” The movie culminates a years-in-the-making passion project for the director, who was nearly driven out of Hollywood forever after a string of critical and commercial flops. Shyamalan would probably be the first to tell you he never thought he’d be returning to the world of “Unbreakable” after 17 years, but the director’s comeback with producer Jason Blum has made it all possible.

Glass,” the sequel to both “Unbreakable” and “Split,” has officially kicked off production this month and will be released by Universal Pictures on January 18, 2019. “Split” proved to be a hit with critics and audiences, and the last second reveal of Bruce WillisDavid Dunn confirmed Shyamalan had much larger plans for his own superhero universe.

As cameras start rolling on “Glass,” here’s everything you need to know about the movie right now.

Split Vs. Unbreakable in Shyamalan's Glass Synopsis
If you've been living under a rock, or have given up on M. Night Shyamalan as a filmmaker, you might not know that his latest movie Split is a sequel to his hit 2000 superhero drama Unbreakable. And now the man is making a trilogy ending third film that will tie the worlds of Unbreakable and Split together. It's called Glass, and it stars Bruce Willis, James McAvoy and Samuel L. Jackson all reprising their roles. Today, we have the official synopsis for this impending thriller, which M. Night Shyamalan only recently finished scripting.

In the late 1990s, heading into the 2000s, M. Night Shyamalan was seen as a wunderkind filmmaker often compared to Steven Spielberg. Especially with his enthralling twist ending for The Sixth Sense. His next movie wasn't as big of a hit, but Unbreakable instantly scored a legion of fans for being an incredibly smart superhero movie before

Newswire: Real-life version of The Happening almost murders a family

  • The AV Club
Last week, nestled in the delightful science section of The Washington Post, amid stories about experimental brain treatments and animals’ “I’m upset” sounds, a small story was buried. It was a quiet story, and kept mostly to itself; no one would’ve ever suspected it of foul play. And yet, encased in the paragraphs therein lay a horror of biblical proportions. A narrative so chilling, so menacing and dire, it could only have been dreamt up by M. Night Shyamalan, America’s poet laureate of “...the fuck?” As reporter Ben Guarino explains, a coral reef almost murdered an entire family, pretty much a true-life version of The Happening. (Yeah, yeah, corals are technically animals, but give us a fucking break—even scientists think of them as the rainforests of the sea, so the analogy holds.)

Like many people nowadays, a family in Adelaide, Australia was growing their own homemade

Movie Review – Gremlin (2017)

Gremlin, 2017.

Directed by Ryan Bellgardt.

Starring Adam Hampton, Kirsty K. Boone, Christian Bellgardt, Katie Burgess and Connie Franklin.

Synopsis:

When an estranged family member delivers a mysterious box to his house, Adam Thatcher initially thinks nothing of it. However, it soon becomes apparent that the metallic container actually has a clock engraved on it, one that begins ticking down with immediate effect. Whenever the dial moves a notch, an ancient creature emerges from the box and kills someone that Adam cares about. Worse still, it transpires that the only one way to prevent this from happening, is to willingly pass the vessel along to someone else, thereby resetting the countdown. Adam is thus faced with an agonising dilemma. Either allow the timer to count down (and let the bodies pile up) or pass the terrible curse along.

Passable monster-design aside, Gremlin is a textbook example of squandered potential, wasting a

Split 2: M. Night Shyamalan’s Sequel To Have ‘More Traditional’ Budget

  • LRM Online
Disclaimer: This post contains spoilers for Split (Seriously, though? What’s the statute of limitations on this one?).

Earlier this year, audiences were blown away by M. Night Shyamalan’s latest offering, Split. In years past, Shyamalan had slowly lost the trust of his millions of fans with films like The Happening and The Last Airbender. Not so long ago, just seeing his name in front of a trailer was enough to elicit groans from audiences. However, with last year’s The Visit, coupled with this year’s Split, Shyamalan’s given us a decent one-two punch that seems to foreshadow a renaissance in his career.

Split was an especially amazing film. Not only was it great on its own, but its ending revealed that it existed in the same universe as Unbreakable, one of Shyamalan’s more beloved early offerings. After nearly two decades of fans wondering if we

Split 2 Gets An Interesting New Title

  • TheMovieBit
M. Night Shyamalan has being on one hell of a comeback lately, with The Visit and Split going a long way to erasing the memories of mega flops like After Earth, The Last Airbender, and (shudder) The Happening. With Split, the man known for his love of twists deliver quite a doozy, and if you’re unaware of how the multiple personality disorder themed psychological thriller panned out, consider this your spoiler warning: The movie was actually the long awaited sequel to 2000’s grounded superhero flick Unbreakable, with Bruce Willis returning as David Dunn, the blue collar worker impervious to harm, setting him on a quest to end the reign of James McAvoy’s Kevin, who is now in control of his 24 separate personalities, and has become a powerful, supernatural entity dubbed The Horde by the media. If that juicy bit of information has you champing at the bit for more,

M. Night Shyamalan completes his Unbreakable trilogy with Glass; Bruce Willis, Samuel L Jackson returning

  • HeyUGuys
Author: Jon Lyus

Before we start – this news will spoil Split. If we’re cool with doing that, or if you’ve seen it already, let’s continue… One of the biggest kept secrets of last year was the final scene in M. Night Shyamalan’s multiple-personality kidnapping thriller Split. Yes, a couple of the movie sites saw it early and each claimed an ‘exclusive’ on the news that it was a semi-sequel to the director’s superlative 2000 film Unbreakable.

Throughout the film there was absolutely no hint that the film existed in the same universe as the one which held Bruce WillisDavid Dunn and Samuel L. Jackson’s Mr. Glass. When the final scene played out, in its calm and understated manner, jaws dropped as audiences realised they were watching a sequel people had nbeen clamouring for since the turn of the century.

The success of Split, thanks

M. Night Shyamalan Officially Announces His ‘Unbreakable’/‘Split’ Crossover Sequel ‘Glass’
Boy, the career of M. Night Shyamalan has had more twists and turns than an M. Night Shyamalan movie. He went from director of a virtually unseen indie debut, to an Oscar-nominated overnight success with “The Sixth Sense,” to a golden boy unable to do wrong with “Unbreakable” and “Signs,” to a critical pinata with “Lady In The Water” and “The Happening,” to blockbuster flop helmer (and also still a critical pinata) with “After Earth” and “The Last Airbender,” to the director of well-executed, low-budget, career-reviving horror movies.

Contest: Win Split, Ouija: Origin Of Evil And The Visit On Blu-Ray!

Thanks to Split, 2017 got off to a flyer for fans of psychological horror and M. Night Shyamalan in particular. A taut, thrilling story coupled with James McAvoy’s tour-de-force performance – not to mention the suitably mind-bending finale – ensured Shyamalan’s latest not only signalled a return to form for the filmmaker, who had churned out three forgettable features in The Happening, The Last Airbender and After Earth, but it’s also resulted in horror fans reflecting back on Split as one of the early sleeper hits of the year thus far.

If you’ve yet to catch M. Night Shyamalan’s comeback, don’t fret; Split is now available via Blu-ray and DVD, and even comes packing an alternate ending that is purportedly much darker than the one screened in theaters. One way or another, to celebrate its home video release, We Got This Covered has a frightful prize pack

‘Split’ Honest Trailer: M. Night Shyamalan Is Actually Kinda Good Again

Interview: Betty Buckley Talks Working with M. Night Shyamalan for Split and Reflects on Carrie (1976)

  • DailyDead
As a man with multiple personalities (23, to be exact), James McAvoy is enthralling to watch in in M. Night Shyamalan's Split, but just as intriguing is his psychiatrist, Dr. Karen Fletcher, played by the great Betty Buckley, who plays a nail-biting mental chess match with her multi-dimensional patient in some of the film's most fascinating scenes.

With Split now out on Blu-ray and DVD from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, I had the great pleasure of speaking with Buckley (whom many may know as Abby Bradford from Eight is Enough) about working with Shyamalan on both Split and The Happening, playing Miss Collins in Brian De Palma's Carrie (1976) and Margaret White in the ’80s Broadway musical adaptation of Stephen King's seminal novel, her new album Story Songs, and more.

Thanks so much for taking the time to talk with me today and congratulations on Split. I loved the film,

Sounds Like M. Night Shyamalan Is Rustling Up A Suitably Dark Finale To His Split Sequel

For years, many feared that M. Night Shyamalan’s best days were behind him. Since breaking onto the Hollywood scene with The Sixth Sense all those years ago, his career has been defined by triumphant highs (Unbreakable) and crushing lows (The Happening). However, it wasn’t long after the release of The Last Airbender in 2010 that Shyamalan quietly began to stage a comeback – and not a moment too soon.

After Earth aside, the back-to-back punch of The Visit and January’s psychological thriller Split has in many ways reinstated M. Night Shyamalan’s status as one of the most tenacious filmmakers working in the industry today. The latter went on to become a box office hit, too – $272 million worldwide, to be precise – spawning talk of a sequel that would, in turn, close out the trilogy once and for all. Bear in mind that if you’ve yet to watch Split

Split 2: M. Night Shyamalan Writing The Climax Of The Upcoming Sequel!

  • LRM Online
We may very well be in the middle of one of the greatest career renaissances in recent memory. M. Night Shyamalan is a filmmaker who started off his career with a bang. The Sixth Sense is still a flick that is highly relevant in the pop culture zeitgeist, and Shyamalan went to follow up that strong film with Unbreakable and Signs, proving that he was no one-hit wonder.

Of course, you can’t bring up Shyamalan without also bringing up the slump he fell into. There may be some debate as to when it started. Some say it started with Signs, some say The Village, but most can agree that his work started to get universally panned around the time of Lady in the Water. From The Happening through After Earth, it wasn’t clear if he would ever come back as the same creative force as he once was.

M. Night Shyamalan Provides Brief Update On Unbreakable 2 Script

We’ll be the first to admit that we were among the many people who wrote off M. Night Shyamalan a long time ago, back when he was putting out duds like Lady in the Water and The Happening. What started off as a tremendously promising career took a sharp nosedive rather quickly and never fully recovered – until now. Starting in 2015 with The Visit, the director slowly but surely began to get back on a more positive track, one which eventually led to this year’s Split.

Starring James McAvoy, it was a huge hit for Shyamalan and has now put him back in the good graces of both critics and audiences alike. Not only that, but it’s paved the way for the long awaited Unbreakable 2, given that it featured a cameo from Bruce WillisDavid Dunn at the end, revealing that both films were set in the same universe.
