Eddie wins with the frogsplash. What a great opener this was! You shouldn't expect any less from these two. It was a very rough and stiff match with a lot of intensity and excitement. This was for a spot to face DDP for the United States Championship.
Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Chris Beniot, Steve McMichael & Debra are out next for an interview. They argue amongst themselves over Woman's loyalty. Ric Flair plays peacemaker
Up next is Hollywood Hogan. I'm not even gonna recap it. He cuts a routine promo and calls Roddy Piper a coward. It's the same Hollywood Hogan promo you've seen many times before. At least it's not ending the show this week.
Lex Luger Vs Tombstone
Luger wins with the Torture Rack. The Giant comes out and brawls with Luger. Luger ends up racking The Giant briefly before Kevin Nash and Scott Hall run in. Luger runs off. The match was pretty forgettable, but the aftermath was really exciting. I didn't think Luger was capable of being this enjoyable.
Rey Mysterio Jr. Vs J.L.
J.L. is Jerry Lynn. Mysterio wins with a frankensteiner from the top. Good stuff from these two! It was a solid little match that got some time to deliver. Mysterio was incredibly exciting to watch around this time.
Rey Mysterio says Sting is not with the nWo. What he did was reactionary. He didn't try to hurt Mysterio. He insists Sting is with WCW all the way.
Your hosts are Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay & Bobby Heenan
Glacier Vs Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker
Glacier dominates and wins with a spin kick. This was awful, even for a squash match.
The Amazing French Canadians (W/Col. Parker) Vs Public Enemy
The French Canadians win by DQ. This was nothing more than a boring brawl between the two.
Big Bubba Rogers Vs Konnan (W/Jimmy Hart)
Bubba wins by DQ after Konnan throws him over the top rope. Yet another crappy match on this show. One thing better about wrestling today is there are more quality matches.
Lord Steven Regal (C) Vs Dean Malenko
The match ends in a draw. These two went out there and put on some nice wrestling. It's a shame this only got two minutes. I wanted more.
Rick Steiner (W/Scott Steiner) Vs Jeff Jarrett
The fake Sting comes out. Jarrett ends up pinning the Fake Sting to apparently win the match. If you can figure out this garbage, let me know.
Oh god, I was wrong! Hollywood Hogan is out again. He claims Roddy Piper wants nothing to do with Hulk Hogan. Roddy Piper's music hits, but it's Eric Bischoff dressed as Roddy Piper. He does a terrible imitation of Roddy Piper. Bischoff lays down as Nick Patrick runs out as Hogan pins Bischoff. Roddy Piper ends up coming out after all. Piper ends up getting outnumbered as Nitro goes off the air. Sting is shown watching in the rafters.
Thoughts: This was semi-exciting due to Piper's appearance.
Overall, this episode had its moments. It dragged at times, but this episode definitely had some entertainment as well.
