Live from Birmingham, AL

We get an opening segment with Raven.

Harlem Heat Vs Buff Bagwell & Scott Norton

Harlem Heat wins by DQ after Vincent gets involved. This was an OK opener. The crowd was red hot for everything Harlem Heat did. Bagwell showed a modicum of charisma with his antics.

** out of 5

The Barbarian Vs Mortis

The Barbarian wins with a boot to the face. Afterwards, Meng and Wrath get involved. Man, the crowd was even somewhat hot for this match! I don't know why, but it's kinda cool.

*1/2 out of 5

Eric Bischoff says he's throwing a party for the nWo. The crowd chants for Larry Zbyszko. Bischoff says Zbyszko can't get in within 50 feet of Bischoff. He tells J.J Dillon he wants his own show and he wants to be an announcer again.

Ric Flair and Curt Hennig are out for an interview. He says Curt Hennig may be the best thing going today. He says he'll be Flair's partner at Clash of the Champions, but he isn't necessarily joining The Four Horsemen. He wants better competition. Hennig says he's getting tired of telling everyone how great he is. He's too good to be true.

Stevie Richards Vs Scotty Riggs

Richards wins with the Steve Kick. Raven comes out and delivers a DDT to Riggs after the match. The match was alright, but I couldn't care less about it.

*1/2 out of 5

Alex Wright tries to join Jeff Jarrett's team, but Debra turns him down in harsh fashion.

Jeff Jarrett & Eddie Guerrero Vs Steve McMichael & Chris Beniot

McMichael and Beniot win. This was a decent match that was buoyed by the electric crowd. Beniot and McMichael had the crowd in the palm of their hands. It's always a treat to see Eddie and Beniot go at it.

**1/4 out of 5

The Outsiders claim they are the reason Birmingham is souled out. Scott Hall says everyone can't get enough of the nWo. Nash says Birmingham is nWo country. Nash says they are gonna show everyone why they are too sweet. Well, that was a waste of time.

Ric Flair Vs Syxx

Flair has the match won, but nWo members run down to cause the DQ. Curt Hennig makes the save. This was pretty decent while it lasted. It was better than their match at Road Wild.

** out of 5

Nick Patrick accuses Randy Anderson of shoddy officiating. Randy Anderson comes out and asks why Patrick is picking on him. J.J Dillon breaks up the argument.

Television Championship

The Ultimo Dragon Vs La Parka

The Dragon wins by submission after Sonny Onoo accidentally costs La Parka the match. I wasn't too impressed by this match. It didn't feature anything overly special.

*1/2 out of 5

Curt Hennig Vs The Giant

Hennig's WCW theme is so generic. Hennig wins by countout after Eric Bischoff comes out and taunts The Giant. The Giant grabs a hold of him briefly before Bischoff gets away. Meh. I'd pay money to see The Giant kick Bischoff's ass, though.

* out of 5

J.J Dillon gives Sting between now and Clash of the Champions to tell management what it is he wants. Sting comes down and points to all the Sting vs Hogan signs and even shows J.J a "we want Hogan vs Sting" sign.

Tag Team Championship

DDP & Lex Luger Vs The Outsiders (c)

The match ends in a DQ after the nWo gets involved and outnumbers DDP and Luger. Ric Flair and The Giant run down to even the odds. A huge brawl commences to end the show. This was a fun tag team match with a lot of star power. DDP did a marvelous job of playing the face in peril. It's just too bad about the abrupt ending.

**3/4 out of 5

This was an entertaining episode of Nitro. Sting's ambiguous nature is really fun to watch and we were getting closer and closer until he finally started wrestling again. The crowd was hot all night long.

7/10
