- Flintheart Glomgold hires the Beagle boys to steal Scrooge's fortune, so that Glomgold could win the title of the richest duck in the world, and an amazing prize that comes with it.
- Scrooge McDuck and Flintheart Glomgold are called to the residence of a man known as the Grand Quiche. Beneath his home, the Quiche has stumbled upon a rare glowing fruit he dubs "firefly fruit." Figuring it to be a valuable commodity, the Grand Quiche wants to market it, but feels the only one worthy enough to do so is the richest duck in the world.
It is then that he reveals his plan. Scrooge and Flintheart have a week to transport their fortunes to the country of Macaroon, where they will be weighed. Whoever has the heaviest fortune will then have exclusive sales rights to the "firefly fruit."
Not wanting to lose, Flintheart then breaks all the Beagle Boys out of jail, in hopes that they will be able to steal off Scrooge's fortune. However, Scrooge's defenses manages to deflect their first assaults. Growing ever more paranoid, Scooge has an enormous cannon he nicknames "Bertha" put in the bin, setting the tank to fire if someone comes through the vault's door. However, Scrooge accidentally triggers Bertha, and the end result causes her to blow-up, opening a fissure in the bin's floor, causing the money to leak into the water system running under the bin.
Scrooge's nephews follow the water, and eventually find the money, but are swept up with it when the Beagle Boys end up gaining access to the reservoir, and end up trying to pump it into there. Scrooge soon finds them, and a tug-of-way breaks out before the money is routed into the penthouse of an upscale apartment. Scrooge manages to beat the Beagle Boys there, and then manages to stall them in the building's elevator until the Police arrive.
