In today’s roundup, NBC gives a commitment to drama pilot “The Unrequited,” while Viola Davis will exec produce the multi-network live event “Eif Presents: Xq Super School Live.”
NBC has given showrunner Kevin Falls a put pilot order for “The Unrequited,” Variety has confirmed. The hourlong drama series will tell the story of four adult siblings who descend on their mother’s home for their father’s funeral, the former governor of California. After the youngest and only son finds an old, unopened love letter from a college girlfriend, a chain of events begins that may change the trajectory of both his own life and members of his family. Falls, former Ep for “Pitch,” previously created and executive produced the NBC drama “Journeyman“ and also co-created and executive produced the TNT dramedy “Franklin & Bash.” Falls is repped by Wme and attorney Stuart Rosenthal. Bloodgood signed on to join the CBS medical drama back in June in the recurring role of tough-as-nails L.A. paramedic Rox Valenzuela, who’ll be saving lives alongside ride-along partner Dr. Willis, played by Rob Lowe. (Lowe’s character shifts his focus to field medicine in Season 3, either by ambulance or helicopter.) Now Rox will be a full-fledged member of the cast, starting with Season 3’s fourth episode.

The division’s funding was increased to the record £25m in 2016 under the stewardship of former director David Kosse.
Speaking at the company’s annual pre-Cannes bash, Battsek, who took over from Kosse last July, praised outgoing Channel4 boss David Abraham for his commitment to Film4 and lamented the departure of Film4 head of creative Rose Garnett who is departing to lead BBC Films.
