Marty Funkhouser's mother was killed on a street accident. A memorial to honor her is set up to mark the spot. Her son is having a hard time dealing with the loss. Larry meets him while the man is jogging, and reminds him of the 50 dollars he owes. Marty takes off his shoe and pulls a bill, which Larry refuses to accept. Imagine, a bill from the sweaty sneaker!

Larry and Cheryl would like to send the two black children to the same school Jeff and Susie are hoping their daughter to be accepted. Because of a silly confrontation at an ice cream store, Larry, unknown to him, insulted the dean of admissions, now their application has been denied. In order to make amends, he wants to bring flowers to the lady, but there is a problem, no one will accept his 50 dollar bill, so he decides to take a bouquet from the memorial.

Larry witnesses a most disgusting scene at the Funkhousers as food was being passed around. The mourners attacked the food like nothing he had ever seen. Later as he and Cheryl go to pay their respects to the family, Cheryl had sprayed herself with a bottle of Marty's mother favorite perfume. As the bereaved Marty smells the well known scent, he realizes Larry had something to do with its disappearance from the display table with all of his late mother's special things. Creative man, that he is, Larry knows how to take care of the situation.

One of the funniest episodes ever. Written by Larry David, this chapter was directed by David Mandel, who keeps things moving at a good pace. There are a few ideas treated in the screenplay which annoy Larry, as well as most of us, but only Mr. David can verbalize them far better than anyone of us. The ice cream tasting gets a funny treatment. The problem with accepting a cruddy bill which nobody wants is hilarious. The mourning relatives that behave like vultures. The store with lines that do not move according to plan and having the last object snatched by someone else because impatience is also well done. Larry David's mind is amazing.
