Monday Night Raw

(01.17.93)

Live from NY, NY

Your hosts are Vince McMahon, Randy Savage & Rob Bartlett

Repo Man attacks Randy Savage and steals his hat just before the show starts to start a pointless two-week feud.

Mr. Perfect Vs Terry Taylor

Mr. Perfect wins with the Perfect Plex after some failed interference by Ric Flair. This was a solid match from start to finish. You had two pros going out there and putting on a show. Taylor was a jobber at this juncture during his brief run in the WWF during his 93 tenure, but he didn't phone it in. As solid as this match was, this was all about the feud between Mr. Perfect and Ric Flair.

**3/4

Bret Hart comes down for an interview with Vince McMahon. Bret says he doesn't appreciate Razor attacking his brother Owen or threatening his father. Bret says Razor is at the bottom of the barrel and the lowest scum in the WWF. Bret says The Hart Family will redeem itself at The Royal Rumble and he'll kick Razor's ass because he's the best. There are some surprising boos for Bret. New York is weird. The match between Bret and Razor at the 93 Royal Rumble ended up being pretty good.

The Undertaker promotes Headlock on Hunger and says no one should starve to death

Marty Janetty Vs Glen Ruth

Janetty wins with the rocker dropper. This was a very forgettable squash match that kinda dragged to be honest. I didn't see the need for it to go as long as it did. For those that don't know, Ruth is Headbanger Thrash.

1/2* (Half a star)

We get a clip from Superstars of Doink apologizing to Crush in a sling and making a peace-offering with a flower. It turns out, Crush is a sucker and the cast is filled with lead.

Sean Mooney catches up with Repo Man outside the building. Repo and Savage bicker back and forth and a match is made between the two for the following week.

Gene Okerlund gives us a Royal Rumble report.

Randy Savage goes out looking for The Repo Man, but is unable to find him outside the building.

"El Matador" Tito Santana Vs Ric Flair

The match ends in a no-contest when Mr. Perfect runs out and brawls with Flair. This was perfectly acceptable for TV standard. There was nothing outstanding about it what so ever, but it was completely watchable.

**

After a somewhat lengthy brawl, Ric Flair says the WWF isn't big enough for the both of them and challenges Mr. Perfect to a loser leaves the WWF match for the following week on Raw. Mr. Perfect happily accepts. Most wrestling fans know what happened during that match, but if you're living under a rock, Flair lost and bolted for WCW.

Final Thoughts

This was the go-home show before the 93 Royal Rumble, I'd say it was an above average episode of Raw. Sure, we had the silliness between Savage and Repo Man, but we got some decent stuff. Perfect Vs Taylor is worth your time and Santana vs Flair isn't that bad either. You can't go wrong when Mr. Perfect and Ric Flair are on the same show. If you have the WWE Network, it's worth a watch
